SR 30 (US 98) SHARED USE PATH FROM SURF ROAD TO SOUTH OF TOWER ROAD
Gortemoller Engineering, Inc. served as the Prime Design Firm providing professional engineering services for the design of a 2.7-mile Shared Use Path along SR 30 (US 98/Coastal Highway) from Surf Road (CR 372) to south of Tower Road. This project primarily consisted of constructing a 10' wide path within the existing right-of-way as well as a pedestrian bridge. The design included full roadway, drainage, survey coordination to verify FDOT and ADA standards and pedestrian accommodations. Significant efforts were exercised to reduce impacts to the environment and trees while taking into account long term maintenance costs. The design for this path incorporated the existing terrain and drainage patterns. A project specific sheet pile retaining wall was developed to cross saltwater marshes.
This project was awarded a 2021 FTBA "Best in Construction" Award and was nominated for a 2022 ACEC Outstanding Project Award.
