PHILIP GRIFFITTS SR. PARKWAY PHASE II
Gortemoller Engineering, Inc. served as the Prime Design Consultant providing engineering design, permitting, and construction administration for Philip Griffitts Sr. Parkway Phase II New Alignment Project. This project included an initial construction of 2-lane road (4 lane ultimate design) connecting to Philip Griffitts Sr. Parkway Segment I terminus at North Pier Park Drive extending eastward to the current terminus of Nautilus Street.
The project included the construction of two 2-laned, 2-way roadways, paved shoulders, open ditches, and a 10' shared use path with design for adding 2 more lanes and a 6' sidewalk in the future. Extensive coordination with the St. Joe Company and the permitting agencies was necessary for wetland impacts by locating all stormwater facilities in uplands and restricting the width of impacts to 100' through high quality wetlands. The project was designed to minimize the grade change underneath the NextEra Energy transmission lines. The project included the development of an ICPR model to determine the impacts to the flood plain to the Gayle's Trail.
